Server management

Administration Console
The Adonis Administration Console provides access to a suite of server management tools, requiring a monitor and keyboard attached to the Adonis DNS/DHCP Appliance™, or a Secure Socket Shell (SSH) connection to its IP address.

Syslog Redirection
Capture and send logging information to an external “syslog server,” enabling a central location review of historical data.

One-to-many Management
Configure multiple servers in a single project file using the Adonis Management Console, eliminating the tedious task of matching slave (secondary) zones with their corresponding masters (primaries). The Adonis Management Console’s features — Live Data Check and Check Data — use the one-to-many relationship to further validate the configuration, and ensures that authoritative records can be resolved correctly. Additionally, administrators can take advantage of Adonis' Bulk Zone Import capability to expedite configuration changes.

One-to-many Management

The Adonis design favors a one-to-many client/server architecture, instead of a simplistic Web interface. The security advantage makes the management system unavailable on the unit for hackers to compromise. Many Web-based applications depend on web servers that have the same release of BIND, creating several vulnerabilities and frequently required patches. Additionally, request parameters can cause Web-based applications to be vulnerable on every page. Most SSL web implementations are one-way, with no certificate on the client, allowing hackers to use “brute force” methods to crack passwords.

DNS/DHCP Statistics and SNMP v1, v2 & v3
Adonis includes SNMP v1, v2 and v3 support for system metrics, DNS statistics, and trap notifications through the Adonis Administration Console. In addition Adonis also provides its own SNMP MIB.

Auto/Intelligent Update
DNS servers running an older version of the BIND software can be vulnerable to attacks and potential outages, causing Internet access and email to be susceptible to disruption of service or downtime. Adonis reduces the risk of such scenarios occurring by providing critical updates to BIND software addressing potential security vulnerabilities within 48 hours of being issued by the ISC.

Auto/Intelligent Update

Adonis employs a pull/push process to update both the console and server software. Updates are pulled from a central server, and pushed through an encrypted channel to each Adonis appliance. Multiple systems can be simultaneously updated and restarted in sequence to prevent service outage.
